24+ Holiday Shopping Chalets Are Coming to Studio Park This November

Wooden shopping chalets, twinkling lights, cozy fires and holiday treats are coming to Studio Park. And yep, this is a different market from it’s neighbor, the GR Christkindl Markt.

Hey Grand Rapids! We have some fun news: There’s gonna be a SECOND holiday market in downtown this year!

Located at the Studio Park complex, this brand-new outdoor holiday market popup in the alcove will be filled with 24+ wooden shopping chalets, holiday lights, seasonal drinks and old-time Christmas movies.

Holiday Market at Studio Park will be open Starting November 18, 2026 through December 23, so you’ll have plenty of chances to visit.

Admission is totally free.

What to Expect at Holiday Market at Studio Park on the Piazza

Think of it as Christkindl Markt’s laid-back cousin. Yes, there will be little wooden shopping huts decked out in garland and twinkling lights, filled with all kinds of gifts and goodies.

But the focus is more on giftable items rather than food, and everything isn’t strictly European.

That’s what Arts Marketplace, the group behind the new market, has planned for Studio Park this holiday season.

They’re bringing in local, regional and national makers selling jewelry, accessories, artwork, home decor, toys, gifts for kids and pets, handmade goods and packaged treats to the Studio Park Piazza, just outside of the theatre entrance.

And because some vendors will be there for shorter stretches, you might find a few new faces (and new things to buy) if you come back later in the season.

Shopping is only part of the fun, though.

A New Place to Find Gifts (And Maybe Something for Yourself)

If you like finding things that aren’t sitting on the shelves at every big-box store, this could be a fun place to do some Christmas shopping.

The market will feature artists, makers and small businesses with everything from handmade accessories and jewelry to home decor, specialty foods and other giftable finds.

And with more than two dozen chalets planned, there should be plenty to poke around in.

But What About Christkindl Markt?

Don’t worry, Christkindl Markt isn’t going anywhere.

The popular Christmas market at the Downtown Market is still its own thing. This new one at Studio Park is a separate event with its own vendors and personality. And the two are only a few blocks apart.

So yeah, both markets are happening this year and organizers are hoping people will make visiting the duo part of a night out. They’re creating a whole downtown holiday corridor, where people can wander between the two markets, shop, eat and spend some time downtown.

The big-picture goal is to help attract more than 300,000 visitors during November and December.

As for us, we’re just happy there’s another excuse to spend an afternoon wandering around downtown with a hot drink.

How to Visit Both Markets on the Same Trip – Here’s the Plan

Start at one, wander over to the other, grab something to eat along the way.

Really, you don’t need a plan bigger than this. It’s easy. That’s the beauty of it.

So if you already make a trip downtown for Christkindl Markt every year, you’ve now got another stop to add to your outing.

Cost: Free admission

Parking: Street parking if you’re lucky, but it’s limited. There’s an attached parking garage at 120 Ottawa Ave SW, and it’s open 24 hours a day. Parking fees do apply.

Bring the Kids. Bring the Dog. Bring Your Christmas List. Or Make it a Date Night!

The organizers say this one’s for the whole crew, including the dog-walking crowd. With no admission fee, you can pop in for a quick wander or stick around and see what there is to do.

And if you want to make it a date night, you could start with the holiday market, grab dinner at one of the restaurants, catch a movie at Celebration Cinema or head inside to explore Arts Marketplace.
