From the celebration of Asian-Pacific culture and the Pride Festival to Polish pierogies, Greek pastries, Tacos, Tequila and everything Art Prize – downtown is packed with festivals that bring together food, music, art and community all summer long.
Discover a new favorite dish, catch some live entertainment, or just soak in all the energy. Mark your calendars, here are our summer bucket list festivals.
Where is it? Calder Plaza (300 Monroe Ave NW)
What is it? A free, two-day festival celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander cultures with tons of authentic food vendors (Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Filipino, etc.)
Highlights – Live music, and traditional dance performances, along with a K-pop dance competition
Where is it? Calder Plaza
What is it? GR’s Pride Festival is an annual celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, connection and inclusion
Highlights – Live entertainment, food court and beer tents, 200 vendor booths, and a vibrant atmosphere.
Also noteworthy – 2026 marks the expansion from a one day event to a full two day weekend. This big milestone portrays how much this celebration has grown in popularity.
Where? Riverside Park near baseball diamonds
What is it? An outdoor summer festival centered around Mexican inspired food and drinks
Highlights – More than 100 tequila, margarita, beer and cider options, live music, food trucks, local vendors, free parking and plenty of shade
Where? Riverfront near Lowell Riverwalk
What? Lowell’s signature summer celebration, transforming downtown into a hub of community celebration
Highlights – Live music at the riverfront, Riverwalk marketplace, food vendors, car show, 5K Run the Riverwalk and Saturday night fireworks over the Flat River
Where? Belknap Park
What? Largest multiple day rock music festival in West MI
Highlights – Multiple stages, nonstop music, festival food and local vendors, all ages, high energy crowd with Belknap’s unique hilltop setting. This year the headliners are Gojira on Friday and Papa Roach on Saturday.
Where? Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Lakeside Drive
What? An annual celebration of Greek culture
Hightlights – The FOOD! The festival is famous for homeamde Greek specialties such as gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, baklava and loukoumades, plus performances by traditional Greek dance groups
Where? Calder Plaza
What? Festival Hispano is the largest annual celebration of Hispanic and Latin American culture in West MI
Highlights – A Latin American street party filled with authentic food from across Latin America, live music and dance performances, cultural exhibits, & a Mercado (artisan and vendor marketplace)
Where? Belknap Park
What? A two day electronic dance music festival that brings nationally known DJs and producers to GR.
Hightlights – Multiple stages, immersive production, food and beverage vendors, EDM artists and a unique hilltop setting
Where? Stretches through the Monroe North riverfront area, near 555 Monroe and the Sixth St. Bridge
What? Return to the River is a celebration of the city’s riverfront and public spaces.
Highlights – Festivalgoers can wander between stages, art installations, maker markets, food trucks and performance areas connected by the riverwalk. Giant interactive art installations make it feel different from other festivals. Dozens of bands and DJs too.
Where? Calder Plaza
What? A free, family friendly festival celebrating Polish culture and food
Highlights – Authentic Polish food like pierogies, kielbasa, golabki, potato pancakes. Live Polish music with polka dancing and folk dancers, cooking demos, and community traditions
Grand Rapids – the beauty of summer festival season is – you can just show up.
Follow the music and the waft of smells of whatever is cooking, and chances are, you’ll be in the middle of something fun.
