So What Is the Holiday Lights Trolley?
The Grand Rapids Holiday Lights Trolley is not for kids.
It’s a party on wheels, complete with the sparkles and tunes of your favorite festive season. Think of it as a Christmas lights tour and a night out rolled into one.
Sign up and you’ll spend a few hours on a decked-out trolley with Christmas music, carols, games, trivia and prizes, hopping off at holiday lights and sights around Grand Rapids.
The whole thing runs about four hours start to finish.
As I mentioned, leave the kids at home, this one is for the 21+ crowd. Date night, girls’ night, your friend group or the work outing that you have to plan – this is a great option.
Bonus: nobody has to be the one driving everyone around to look at lights.
A Ticket Gets You:

The Trolley Route
Tours start and end at Küsterer Brauhaus, 642 Bridge St. NW.
You’ll check in (bring your ID), meet your guide, sign a waiver, grab your snack and gift bag, then climb aboard.
Quick BYOB heads-up: you can’t drink your own stuff inside Küsterer. (They’ll hold onto your drinks until it’s time to board.)
Where the trolley actually goes depends on the night.
Possible stops include:
- Christkindl Markt at the Downtown Market
- The Christmas Lite Show at LMCU Ballpark
- East Grand Rapids lights and tree displays
- Festive neighborhoods
- Rosa Parks Circle
Traffic, timing and whatever else can shift the route, and you can’t request stops.
The best advice, just go with it. Half the fun is not knowing exactly where you’re headed. (And don’t worry, there are two bathroom stops built in.)
Trolley Dates & Times
Trolley tours run from Friday, Nov. 27 thru Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026. Primarily on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Typical time slots include a 3-7 PM early tour and 6-10 PM late tour, but individual dates may carry additional time windows. What’s available changes by date.
As of writing (9/22/2026) some dates are already sold out. For Friday, December 18, the available options are:
- 3-7 PM: 75 seats remaining
- 4-8 PM: 28 seats remaining
- 6-10 PM: 71 seats remaining
- 7-11 PM: 28 seats remaining
What to Wear. It runs rain, shine or snow. The trolley and indoor stops are heated, but you’ll be outside some, so dress for whatever Michigan’s doing that night.
Parking. Parking is on the street near Küsterer. On weekdays, check the meters, since you may have to pay before 7 PM.
Want to Book the Whole Trolley?
If your group is big enough, you can book a private buyout on one of the scheduled dates. Just pick a trolley and grab every remaining seat.
For around $2000, you can get a private experience for your group. Those prices are all-in, and it works out to about $81 a person no matter which one you pick. Great for office parties or that friend group that always ends up being “just a few more people.”

Grab your people, pack your drinks and let someone else handle the driving. Tickets tend to go fast once December gets close, so don’t wait to decide you’re in.
