St. Patrick’s Day 2020 Line Up
Grand Rapids is a contender when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Yes, we’ve got green beer, bar crawls, and a parade — but wait, there’s more!
Before we go any further, though, take a sec to do a wardrobe check. You’re gonna wear green, right? It only matters if you want to celebrate Irish festivities without the pinches. Trust me, you’ll have more fun in green.
From dancing, drinking and corned beef eating — Grand Rapids is full of ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. (FYI – St. Patrick’s Day is officially on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, but expect many celebrations to take place the weekend before.)

One Last Thing – Safety Measures
The last thing anyone wants as a St. Patrick’s Day souvenir is a DUI or a side of coronavirus.
Before you head out, plan to use these safety tips to keep yourself and those around you healthy and safe.
- Wash your hands (often) with soap for more than 20 seconds.
- Cough/sneeze into your elbow or a tissue (toss that tissue into the trash ASAP.)
- If you’re lucky enough to own a travel bottle of hand sanitizer, use it.
- Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth — or that really itchy spot.
- Stay home if you feel ill. There are plenty of events happening in Grand Rapids every day. Get back out when you’re 100%.
Getting Home on St. Patrick’s Day
Before you go out and start enjoying yourself, remember to plan your exit. How will you get home safely?
Will you schedule a taxi or cab, or plan to use rideshare like Lyft or Uber (prepare to pay surge pricing) bring along a DD, or book a hotel room.
Whatever your choice, please plan now to ensure you make it home without getting behind the wheel over a holiday known for its heavy drinking culture.
